The Pride Before A Fall

STORY:
After defeating the rabbit in a race, the turtle became very famous. A couple of ducks invited the turtle to fly with them.

“You are the pride of the animal kingdom. We will give you a grand tour, buddy. A grand tour up in the sky.”
“Oh boy, I always wanted to soar in the sky. You guys surely know how to treat a champion like me. After all, I am the best there is. The winner of the great race.”
“We sure do. A modest person like you is very rare. Your modesty knows no bounds. We are dazzled by your modesty. We will come back tomorrow to pick you up.”
“Ha ha, you are a loser, rabbit. A great loser. I am the best. There is no one like me. I am the king of the jungle.”
As the turtle began to taunt the rabbit, it grew very angry. So, that night, in the dark, the rabbit was up to no good. He wanted to annihilate the turtle from the face of the earth.
“It looks like someone beat you up real good. It seems like they did a thorough job of it too.”
“It was that crazy rabbit. He is a lunatic, I tell you, an unhinged lunatic. A top-class terrorist. He is an evil incarnation. A menace to society. ”
“What? That's good for nothing, lazy rabbit. Mr. Turtle, in this state you cannot fly with us.”
“But I want to fly with you.”
“You will need your hands to grab on to a stick, which we will carry between our beaks. Without using your hands, how do you plan on grabbing the stick?”
“Hmmm, how about I grab the stick with my mouth? My jaws are very strong.”
“That sounds risky. Anyway, it's your funeral. Make sure you do not speak while in the air. Let’s go then.”
“Such a wonderful sight! Look at me, mom; I am on top of the world. Where I belong.”
“Hello there, ducks. Who is this person you are carrying? Is he a very important person?”
“Why are you not answering? Are you deaf, dumb, and mute?”
“Could it be that you are carrying a worthless person and too ashamed to admit it?”
“The turtle’s pride was hurt by the insolent badgering of the parrot. He forgot the duck's warning and opened his mouth to retort.”
“I am the champion of the great race, you moron. I am the king of…..oh no, I let go of the stick.”

The moral of the story is that pride comes before a fall, and vanity often leads to misfortune. It is always prudent to think before you speak.
